Can we trust AI?
Can we trust AI?
Wrong question.
Better question: Under what conditions SHOULD we trust AI?
Trust isn’t binary. It’s a spectrum.
I’d trust AI to:
- Process invoices at 2am
- Flag anomalies in 10M data points
- Draft a first version of a report
I wouldn’t trust AI to:
- Make the final hiring decision
- Set company strategy alone
- Handle a crisis without human oversight
The companies getting AI right aren’t blindly trusting or blindly fearing.
They’re building trust frameworks:
- Define where AI decides autonomously
- Define where AI recommends, humans decide
- Define where humans lead, AI supports
- Monitor, learn, adjust boundaries
